If you’re dreaming of a Sundance Utah proposal or planning a fall mountain engagement session in Utah, Burke and Paige’s story is the perfect inspiration. Their surprise proposal took place at Sundance Mountain Resort during peak fall colors — and even with the busiest weekend I’ve ever seen there, it turned into one of the most memorable sessions of my career.
How Burke & Paige’s Story Led to a Sundance Proposal
Burke and Paige first met back east in college, both student athletes balancing busy schedules. Burke played baseball and Paige was a gymnast — and somewhere between classes and practices, their relationship started to grow. When Burke transferred to UVU, they made the move to Utah together and began building a life in Salt Lake City.
Sundance quickly became one of the most meaningful places in their relationship, so when Burke reached out wanting to plan a surprise proposal at Sundance, I I was immediately in. Sundance is magic no matter what — but it also happens to be where I got engaged to my husband, so this one felt extra full-circle for me.
The Busiest Weekend Ever at Sundance Resort
The weekend Burke chose ended up being one of the wildest I’ve ever experienced at Sundance Mountain Resort. With peak fall colors, the fall farmer's market, and great weather, the resort was packed — parking lots were full, the Alpine Loop was temporarily closed, and lift lines stretched forever. What was meant to be a quick, easy surprise session turned into a seven-hour adventure of traffic, coordinating timing, watching Paige's location, and even waiting over 45 minutes just to get down the mountain on the lift. But honestly? The chaos made the day unforgettable.
The Surprise Proposal at Sundance
Paige thought she was simply showing a friend around Sundance while Burke was “out golfing.” Meanwhile, Burke was waiting at the top to propose in the middle of the most stunning fall colors — golden aspens, deep reds, and the kind of warm October light Sundance is famous for.
When Paige got off the lift and saw him, she was completely surprised. Her reaction was pure joy and emotion — truly one of the sweetest proposal moments.
Fall Engagement Photos at Sundance Utah
After the proposal, we wandered through the resort capturing engagement photos surrounded by peak fall color. Sundance in autumn is unreal, and the mountain views made the perfect backdrop for their Utah engagement photos. Their connection is so natural and steady, and photographing them felt effortless.
Burke & Paige, thank you for trusting me with such a big moment. I’m still smiling about this one.
If you’re considering planning a Utah mountain proposal or want ideas for a Sundance engagement session, Burke and Paige’s day is proof that even the busiest weekend can still be magical.
